Great post, Eric! I agree... complication is a defense. And look at how prevalent it is... it's everywhere! I'll take simplicity any day for I notice that's where I find peace. Thanks so much. Love, Lonni

Thanks Eric! I went to look at your post and had to closely ... and found a question mark....LOL. How succinct! Our part is to ask truly and leave the rest to God. Thanks Eric... as you know, I love your sharing. Namaste. Ruby

This question was originally "inspired" by this morning when I woke up and started to think about all the problems in my life. I need to do this. I need to do that. And then my mind went to I should have done this. I should have done that and then the mind thought and on top of all of this, I still need to keep on this path. GRrrrrr complexity arose in full force.

Thankfully I caught myself and realized what was happening and was able to choose again, but I just read a post by Ruby that really spoke to me and so I want to add it.....without her permission, but I'm sure she won't mind. Great post Ruby!

Eckhart Tolle speaks of space (Cause/cause- Mind/mind - Oneness/separation) consciousness (can I be the space for allowance)... not object (effect) consciousness. (What I resist, persists) In other words, ideas leave not their source. The Course tells us if we are not thinking with God, we are actually not thinking at all.. and the effect is a projection (illusion). From my Identity (Love) ... I will experience Love and will witness to Love. From fear, I witness to fear. Metaphysics (greater than the physical; do not be deceived by physical appearances)...cause and effect.

What is my goal in seeing? What do I want to see. subconscious guilt (will look for witnesses to that)
If I want peace, Love... I am willing to suspend judgment (let go of everything I think I know)...make room for truth.

Words are but symbols of symbols. As Eckhart Tolle would say, 'words are signposts....let them point. It's insane to analyze signposts'. Perception is not absolute...it's all relative and if we are willing it will point us to great liberation from our own fears. Let them point. God does not deceive... but when we forget Who we are we are indeed deceived. ie, Our truth is beyond anyone's perception or opinion and needs no defense. If I perceive a problem, then it is my mind which needs healing, not others. I must suspend my judgment ("I do not know what anything including this means, and I will not use my past learning as the light to guide me now.") If we truly want to undo error, we must let go of our positions and make room for truth. This for me means letting go of it all... what in this moment is the truth. What in this moment is a problem? In truth, in each moment we can choose again and begin anew. This is God's Grace... it's never a problem unless we make it one.

It really is all good. "It takes great learning to understand that all things, events, encounters and circumstances are helpful. It is only to the extent to which they are helpful that any degree of reality should be accorded them in this world of illusion. The word “value” can apply to nothing else. (Manual, p.10)

Namaste. Love and blessings, Ruby

Hi Steve,

Thank you for your reply and I concur. I would also like to add too from what you said. From what you said, we could also then say that complication is a defense. That is could be said that it is a form of resistence, by trying to obscure the journey without distance by creating the illusion of distance.

For how could we "accomplish" what we "want" when the road is long and difficult? How can we Be when there is too much to do and to work through?

And I think that we can even take it farther back to something else you mentioned before. Living in the Now. For this is where simplicity is. Now. Not then and not when, but simply Now. The foundation for Being. or as ACIM says, Salvation is the Now. Now has no distance. It cannot be relfected upon nor anticipated. It only Is. The mind cannot complicate the Now, because to complicate takes time. It needs past and future.

What a wonderful defense to use for resistence?! Time! For it implies a distance within a journey to ourselves. "I just need more time and to work through this or that. If I can just get a little bit more information. If I can just figure this out. If I can just find that last piece to the puzzle. Then I will get to be myself." Complexity has arisen and we have a goal to achieve while at the same time keeping it at arms length. "I will get there someday!" And all the while the Now is overlooked.

Reflection and contemplation can be good to help undo, but when it complicates, it then is being used as weapon as a defense againt the simplicity.

Because complicated ideas is what the mind lives by.. mind work.. concepts, ideas..dogmas.. believes.. stories. The more the better!.. and the more complicated, even better! The mind feel validated, vindicated, appreciated, justified, realized, with it's own convoluted work. Simplicity is too scary.. means dead to the mind content.
What's the worst fear for a balloon?... to be deflated and lose it's air. (content) for a balloon to lose it's air means annihilation, death. The mind fears simplicity. Silence is the abyss..
